Apple's newest sheeple product... the iPad

Given the form factor, I would say lack of multi tasking ability is a major concern. Also, this may just be me, but given that the intent was to produce a portable computer instead of an even more portable communications device, I think that users would have been better served by a device is...

    John Murtha dies

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9DO6O4G0&show_article=1 I won't speak badly about the dead, which leaves me nothing to say about Murtha at all. But what will be interesting is the special election to replace Murtha. It is expected to take place on May 18th. If recent trends...

    Steppin' Down

Graphrix, step back for a moment here. There was a filter on the word ocreader.com on this site. SoCal and I talked about it, and she realized that censorship is wrong. So she took it off and made a public announcement on the subject. The decision to stop the censorship was hers. The...

The "Scott" heard around the world

Thanks for the link. While I find it interesting, Jim Webb != Harry Reid. And I think that Reid, Pelosi, and Obama are naive enough to think that what just happened in Massachusetts was the result of a truly horrid candidate, and not a referendum on where they are trying to take the country.

It's really unfortunate that tjere is no "Thanks" or "Exalt" function here. That post deserves sincere appreciation.

Hmmm, one of the forum sections is titled "Speak Freely". Should I consider that to be an invitation?

Thanks Peter. I would hope/assume that the software available would do something more than the Garmin unit could do for you. If it's a training device, I would hope that there were sensors in the peddles so they could tell how fast/hard you were peddling and point out other inefficiencies...

The "Scott" heard around the world

How's this for a "Boston Tea Party"? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100120/ap_on_el_se/us_massachusetts_senate Scott Brown comes from 30 points down two months ago to become the first Republican elected to the US Senate in Massachusetts since 1972. Now let's see if rumors are true that...

Wow! $30k for a bike! Peter, I'm curious, is this something that is designed for the Olympics and/or Tour de France? Or is it just something to help unburden people who have too much money? I'm also interested in the software for the bike. Do you have any good sources of information?

Beyond the headline number on unemployment

It truly is, and with a slew of tax increases on the way, it's not likely to get better any time soon.

Beyond the headline number on unemployment

I pulled the following paragraphs from John Mauldin's weekly newsletter ( free at www.frontlinethoughts.com ) Though John is the author of this snippet I am pulling, data infused in the writing comes from The Liscio Report. By the way, the total number of people on unemployment is about...

    Ear Infections

I have a remarkably simple solution that just may help your son. I used to have problems with ear infections myself until one time while visiting a doctor for antibiotics to take care of an ear infection, I was given a piece of advice that in my opinion should be one of the first courses of...

    Jobs

I agree completely. People that have been attracted to financial engineering and law have raw abilities that could be put to much more productive uses. The shortage of qualified engineers will ultimately lead to a lower standard of living for everyone in this country. Of course the flip side...

    Jobs

Just for clarity, I'm not talking about jobs that are beneficial to society. I'm talking about creation of wealth. The fundamental characteristics of your original example (manufacturing, mining, agriculture) is that people in these trades take raw and/or processed inputs, apply labor (and...

It's actually worse than that because only people who have been actively looking for work for 6 months or less are on the unemployment roles. I believe that the actual number of unemployed people is closer to 17.5%
