Have you ever been in a fist fight?

Actually I don't think fights with siblings count.  That's just part of growing up.  Of course some fights among siblings are more violent than others.  The majority of times I have been in fights were weapons were pulled and/or used on me were with my brother. As for friends, is it really...

Have you ever been in a fist fight?

I'm amazed that there are any "No" answers here at all.  It would be one thing if the question were limited to fights as an adult, but I didn't think it was possible to grow up and not get into fights - and not just between brothers either. Also, in answer to RKP's twist, sure, I've had my fair...

    VOIP Recommendation?

I'm just using an ordinary wireless phone system.  I think it's a Panasonic.  But voice quality is good, and the cost per month for Ooma is something like $3.

    VOIP Recommendation?

I'm using an Ooma Telo (http://www.ooma.com/products/ooma-telo) and have no complaints.  You can find them at Amazon or any other online retailer.

How to help a friend... say something or shut up?

That does make things more difficult.  If you are going to deliver the message, I really think that the personal touch of voice communication is needed.  Perhaps you could either ask your friend to give you a call via Facebook, or tell them that you are going to be in the neighborhood and see...

How to help a friend... say something or shut up?

One additional thing, when I say "talk", I mean "talk".  Don't do it via email, or IM.  Email is far too one directional, and IM doesn't allow either party to pick up on verbal intonation in a message.  If you can't have the talk in person, then do it over the phone.

How to help a friend... say something or shut up?

Here is how I see things. First of all there are 3 approaches you can take to this problem A) Direct - It can be difficult to approach things this way, but it ensures that the message gets through as intended.  Mentioning concerns and ability to have a family shouldn't be sugar-coated B)...

    National Debt

The Federal budget in 2007 was about $2.7 trillion dollars.  The Federal budget in 2011 was $3.6 trillion dollars.  That's a 33% increase in spending.  If the Feds want to stimulate the economy, they need to get off the backs of productive members of society.  The government is not capable of...

    National Debt

Actually the path forward isn't so clear.  In typical Washington DC fashion, the first resort the Feds are planning on involves defaulting on the national debt.  Even though the debt could easily be serviced by current revenue streams, there is no desire to act responsibly because the powers...

    National Debt

I'm sorry.  You are correct.  I was looking at the total for the fiscal year to date for 2011, not the last complete fiscal year. But the point still remains, it's possible to service the debt through current revenue streams.  What not expanding the debt limit would do is force the government...

    National Debt

Actually the August 2nd doomsday is a very misleading piece of liberal propaganda.  In round numbers, the US is taking in around $2 trillion dollars a year in various taxes.  The problem is that we are spending about $3.6 trillion which leaves a deficit of about $1.6 trillion a year.  That...
