Petaluma at Eastwood - Final Model Homes selling

I am sure it will sell, but it won?t be a good investment as compared to other options at that price level, IMO.

Petaluma at Eastwood - Final Model Homes selling

Wow, look at those model prices.  Buying the model always seems like a bad idea, IMO.  https://www.redfin.com/CA/Irvine/144-Rotunda-92620/home/112726341?utm_source=myredfin&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ios_share&utm_nooverride=1&utm_content=link Considering a plan 2 with a full driveway just...

Decent Read on Retirement Saving versus Spending Now

Back in the day, when most companies offered pension plans, workers were rewarded for staying with the same company for 30+ years.  They may not see as significant of a wage rate increase, but they at least had the reassurance that they'd have a comfortable salary waiting for them in...

Better Location for Resale in Irvine

For the most part, yes, I do agree with you.  I do think, though, each enclave and area should be judged independently. For example, most communities in Eastwood have done great, but not all.  Take a look at Beverly's sales map: http://beverly.crateserver.com

Better Location for Resale in Irvine

I was referring to the specific communities the OP cited, as pretty much someone vouched for all of them.

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Congrats!  It's not often you see people retired by 50 out here.  Very admirable, and I hope retirement is everything you hoped it would be :)

Better Location for Resale in Irvine

Based on the diversity of answers here, I'm going to say that no matter which option you go with, you should be in pretty good shape overall.  :)

Decent Read on Retirement Saving versus Spending Now

It's impossible to safeguard against every possible situation out there.  All we can really do is have a reasonable plan and hope it pans out.  Try to save a reasonable percentage of your income over a period of time (20%?), allocate some money for entertainment/pleasure, and go from there.

Decent Read on Retirement Saving versus Spending Now

I'd say all we can really do is plan and hope for the best. I do think we will all get some form of social security, just perhaps a somewhat reduced benefit compared to now (say, 75% of what we are currently projected to receive). Historically, the stock market has returned close to 10%...

Ebb Tide In Newport Beach By MBK Homes

Just my opinion, but I'm not a huge fan of 3 story homes.

Decent Read on Retirement Saving versus Spending Now

A very reasonable approach overall.  Life is a balance.  Obviously it's important to plan for your own retirement (401k, roth IRA, etc), but it's also good to have some discretionary income to enjoy life too.  Everyone has different forms of enjoyment (some enjoy cars, some traveling all over...

    Upgrades at New house

Congratulations!  Which community did you buy in? I would upgrade all of those things through the builder.  You can do other things, like flooring, paint, etc outside the builder, but I?d do all of the above things with the builder.

    Elderberry at PS

Yeah, I think the LaClaire was listed for close to 1.1mil for the view lot.

The neighborhood specifically does have a very peaceful feel to it.  I saw they charged around a 150k premium for the view homes that overlook Portola Springs road.

Lol.  As long as the address itself isn't 44, I'm guessing it'll ultimately be okay ;)

Builder Delays - New Home Purchase

The builder I am using has told me they will pay the cost of any kind of rate lock extension fees for delays, as long as I use their preferred lender.

    Cadence Park - Great Park

Cadence Park looks quite promising, but they better hope that cemetery doesn't make its way back there...
