Harvard has 20% Asians and has 47% minorities overall.  I don't think they are being unfair.

That's why I am not a fan of super dark floors.  You never saw such dark floors until mid 2000s. To me they were/are very trendy and now the trend is going away from that.  Kind of like having one of those honey colored kitchen cabinets in the early/mid 2000s.  I'd go for something more timeless...

I personally don't like the upkeep of very dark floors.  I hate seeing a layer of dust hours after it's been clean.

I have 2 of these in my front yard.  They are beautiful when they are blooming, when the leaves change color, and the branch formation is pretty when the leaves are gone.  They aren't high maintenance at all. Western Redbud Cercis occidentalis

I concur with SoCal.  Granite is so 2006- so if you like it, keep pattern small.  I like WTTCHMN's link to Ceasarstone.  Also, Cambria is another quartz line that has marble like looks.
