Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

1)environmental concerns and 2)can't afford the nicer homes there. :-\ We're first time home buyers in our early 30's with no help from family/inheritance etc. Our max budget is around $750k (and even that is pushing it).

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

Nope!  :o We pulled out of Baker Ranch because the track we were going to purchase ended up being literally on the land of the old Ordnance Explosive Device site from the military base.  ::) Again, more overly-paranoid decisions (or lack thereof). We had put our search for a home off for a...

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

I'll be honest, most of it had to do with a lot of the stuff I read on here about it not being a great idea to live so close to a landfill. When we visited Celeste we couldn't smell anything, but me being the worrier I am I knew that it would always be in the back of my head. In terms of...

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

I am not sure if we were being overly paranoid, but we decided against Celeste because of it's proximity to the landfill.

US new home sales drop for second straight month

I got an updated pricing sheet from one of the new builders in RMV a few days ago and there are something like 6 homes still available from the current phase (February move-ins), on top of 2 homes sitting vacant from the earlier phase release (January). In addition, they are offering to pay your...

    Can Irvine become too Asian?

Just poppin' in to say that I am most definitely not anyone else other than myself (as a matter of fact I don't even know who "YF" is). :)

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Realistically how concerned should we be about the landfill near PS?

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

That is hilarious - yes that was me and my wife that you met! For what it's worth it, we decided to cancel our reservation as well. There were varying factors that just made it not feel like the right fit: The nearby jail, the fact that baker ranch was built on top of the old ordnance...

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

It seems I may be wrong, but we were under the impression that the land that Baker Ranch was built on was not part of the plot of land that potentially contained TCE remnants? Am I being overly paranoid?

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Thank you to everyone for your responses! We'd love to live at the Great Park but we are concerned about the possible contaminated soil there (I guess we are pickier than I thought?) Delano plan 1 sounds great but I was under the impression they were sold out? -Eddie

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Thank you! That is really nice to hear. There's a new phase release for the Rowe this Saturday so we are expecting to get a call. We are also on the priority list for Bristol but those are pushing $800k.  :o

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Thank you!! It has really been a depressing/traumatizing experience. We are pretty much about ready to give up. Our budget is somewhere in the $700-$750k/range. We were hoping to buy a 3 bedroom in Irvine that we could live in...forever. We are not even really very picky - we do not need a huge...

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

Recently married - both of us making six figures. We do not come from money though so we have no family/relative help for down payment etc. At all. :( We can't compete with FCB buyers - we put in an offer on a stonegate townhome a few days ago and ended up hearing back from the agent that they...

Baker Ranch in Lake Forest / Foothill Ranch

BUMP Hello everyone! After a long search for homes in Irvine and having been effectively priced out, it looks like we will be going with a new townhome at the Rowe. Does anyone have any updates on any new developments at Baker Ranch? Do those of you who live there still enjoy it/recommend it...

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

Thanks for your input everyone. Our main concern isn't necessarily our ability to withstand the smell/odor, it is more about any possible health issues that may arise in the future from exposure to landfill.

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

I am close to purchasing one of these homes, but we are concerned about some of the potential environmental issues around the area. Realistically, how concerned should I be about the proximity of these homes to the toll road and to the landfill nearby?

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

It has now been about a month since the grand opening - does anyone know how these are selling?

Portola Springs Neighborhood 4B: Brisa, Celeste and Talise

I am considering buying one of the Celeste detached homes at $750k but $511/qt ft. is tough to wrap my brain around. At 1470 sq. ft. it just doesn't give us a lot of extra space to grow into (right now it's just my wife and I). There were tons of people at the grand opening yesterday so we're...

What's my best bet for a home in Irvine under $600k?

Thanks for the info! We're definitely open to an SFR/detached condo in a non-Irvine, south O.C. city, however we do not want to go toofar south because my wife works in North O.C. We are actually sort of considering Rancho Mission Viejo since the value is still pretty good down there (for a new...
