    Statement made by IUSD teachers

The Districts are realizing this is not as easy as planned. A south OC school with a dominant football team was told by their principal they could not use Zoom while at school to teach those students who have chosen to learn through Distance Learning; citing a bandwidth issue.

    Countdown for in-person schooling

When one person decides to walk between desks you have lost the six feet for social distancing and ?must? wear a mask.

    Countdown for in-person schooling

They will enforce the mask wearing as well as schools enforce cell phone use in the classroom. No technology allowed, but the teacher can?t confiscate the phone. So if a student removes the mask is a teacher to walk out of the room...doubtful. In terms of returning, Labor Day might create an...

    Countdown for in-person schooling

School administrators in a local district have already said they don?t have the resources to clean every classroom daily. This should be addressed prior to any reopening.

Any place with good school district near Irvine to buy home?

This is zoned for El Toro HS, which is seeing significant improvement again. There is also word of the Nakase Nursery being developed into residential with plans for an elementary school, which will serve Baker Ranch.

Any place with good school district near Irvine to buy home?

I?d suggest Foothill HS (Tustin USD) or Trabuco Hills HS (Saddleback Valley USD). Both are consistently high achieving schools outside of IUSD, but not far.

    Distance learning?

Hybrid/blended has my vote. Five days in an unsanitary classroom is unsafe for students and staff. Schools don?t have the staff or resources to clean daily, they never have even for vacuuming and dry erase board cleaning.  The one or two days depending on the grade level provides for...

    Distance learning?

This comment by Ryan Burris won?t add up in the end. You need certificated teachers supervising students at all times.

    coronavirus

Schools don?t have a specific plan as of yet and are still surveying until more specifics come from the state in mid-July. Parents have the ultimate voice at board meetings; especially with board elections in November.

    Distance learning?

Even two days a week, as long as families attend on the same days, would be helpful for learning, family childcare or work-related needs. A-L attend Mon-Tues, schools are sanitized on Wed, then M-Z attend Thurs-Fri. As conditions improve adjustments could be made.

    coronavirus

Distance learning is more effective when grades matter. Additionally a teacher?s presence in the classroom helps maintain student engagement whereas parents were not willing or were unable to offer the same supervised engagement.

    Distance learning?

Irvine?s year round school is slated to start mid July, but no commitment on whether that means students in the classroom, but the district is shying away from the mention of continued distance learning.
