Asian Last Name = Fewer Job Interviews

Yeah, except it is false to assume that Asian last name equals non native English speaker. ESPECIALLY in Southern California there is a sizeable population of Asian Americans whose families have been in the US for generations and are native speakers of English. As an example, Chinese have been...

slow down in all cash buyers from mainland China

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-san-gabriel-housing-20170223-story.html this is good for Irvine--hopefully means more normal, domestic buyers can get in.

Irvine School District too Competitive and Backfires?

and who do you think will have an easier time staying in said school and not failing out?

Landfill and Portola Springs/Lambert Ranch /Stonegate/Pavilion Park

There may be no smell (don't have any personal experience with this), but it sure is ugly to look at when driving up Sand Canyon. Is it getting bigger? I feel like the gash in the mountainside is becoming more and more noticeable.

Irvine School District too Competitive and Backfires?

It depends on your view--what is the purpose of high school? Is it to get into a competitive college, or is it to receive a strong educational foundation that will prepare your kid for success in the future regardless of what college they go to? If you send your kid to an "easy" school, they may...

10 Hexham mother-son murder suicide house for sale

If I can help potential buyers walk into this deal with eyes wide open and knowing all the facts I will consider it my public service for the day. I always used to google the address of any house I was considering to buy (to look for events like this) and also look up any nearby registered sex...

10 Hexham mother-son murder suicide house for sale

https://www.redfin.com/CA/Irvine/10-Hexham-92603/home/4745688 Nice...I hope this agent is disclosing the crime! Is it priced under the market at $627/sq ft for that neighborhood? The last house in that neighborhood closed in December 2016 for 2.44M or $566/sq ft. They want 500K MORE, and...

New to Irvine, seeking opinions for a property in Walnut Village/College Park

If you're thinking that you may need to move in the not too far future, I would definitely keep in mind that it will be hard to sell this place when the time comes, because only a limited number of people will be willing to live by the train tracks and power lines. It will be hard unless there's...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

They have some interesting paint and decor choices. One would think that someone who can afford a house like that would hire a professional interior designer. It goes to show how much of the "wow" factor from Hidden Canyon homes comes from the professional interior design and upgrades of the...

    Petaluma or Marin ?

+1 on the young kids issue. also I like to sleep with windows open and even though Irvine is supposed to be safe, I would still feel safer doing so in a second floor master bedroom.

Orchard Hills - Strada by Irvine Pacific

I can understand making the trade off for small yard but maximizing interior space at a price point about 1 million or below. But its ridiculous at an asking price of  1.5M.

Alta Vista and Bella Vista at Orchard Hills

I went this weekend, just as a lookie loo, no intention of moving from my current neighborhood in OH. I actually did see some families with older school age children (late elementary to middle/high school). I don't know if they were serious buyers or just lookie loos like me. I overheard one...

    .

Yeah, in SF, the attached homes are a million because the free standing houses (of the very few which exist) are multi-million. Irvine is nothing like that. There's too many available options for detached homes here. Why choose attached unless you have to? For the same price range, I'd choose an...

Alta Vista and Bella Vista at Orchard Hills

yeah, the floor plans, lot sizes and views are tempting, but if you have kids and plan to have them attend Orchard Hills School, you'll appreciate living in a closer in neighborhood. Have you seen the morning drop off situation there? Its horrendous. I'm never leaving my Saviero neighborhood...

Alta Vista and Bella Vista at Orchard Hills

I take Jamboree North for my commute to north OC. Reverse (minimal) traffic all the way, scenic, and calming as you drive by the rolling hillsides.  That's why we chose OH. For the reverse commute.  I recognize there's probably relatively few(er) people who are in this situation.

Key fobs or cards duplication for yourself

Yes, you're supposed to give your full (and real name). It will verify that you are who you claim you are before you can join. To discourage the type of behavior that can sometimes come out on anonymous internet boards.

Key fobs or cards duplication for yourself

Someone tried to advertise this on NextDoor and got shot down. For anyone thinking about doing this--it may seem like a convenient and cheap way to get replacement or extra fobs rather than going through your HOA, but think about the greater implications of multiple people doing the same...
