Should our military (taxpayers) pay for gender reassignment of service members?

I'm not discrediting the institution. It seems that when it comes to trans health, the particular Dr. you decided to cite is not well regarded.

Should our military (taxpayers) pay for gender reassignment of service members?

Well, the views by your John Hopkins are rejected by the general medical community such as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). The RAND study was commissioned by the DoD and used to set guidelines for our service members. I'll take a reputable source such as RAND...

Should our military (taxpayers) pay for gender reassignment of service members?

... but it does. According to RAND: "Adverse consequences of not providing transitionrelated health care to transgender personnel could include avoidance of other necessary health care, such as important preventive services, as well as increased rates of mental and substance use disorders...

Should our military (taxpayers) pay for gender reassignment of service members?

Can't the same point be made about ED medication as well? Acne medication? What if the improvement in quality of life reduces the incidences of suicide and substance abuse? Would it be a valid treatment then?

Should our military (taxpayers) pay for gender reassignment of service members?

The numbers are somewhere around 5000 out of 1.3m. So about 0.4%. I think there was a RAND study on this. Yearly expenditures for this are in the $8m/year range. The cost of 1 F-35 is currently hovering at bit over $100m and the thing can't even perform as advertised. This was not a decision...

It's very competitive to get into Woodbridge. Very few detached SFRs go on sale and the demand is certainly there. Expect to pay ~ $1m for that property. No MRs and HOAs at less than $100.  The houses are old, but well built. You may need to do a re-pipe and floors, but that's about it. Well...

Since you do a lot of shopping for your care and pay out of pocket, you might be interested in https://heal.com/ ($99 house calls) and https://zendyhealth.com/ (the priceline of medical services). Also, Pharmacies might price-match each other if you shop around a little. I think you are mixing...

Sounds like employer is not pitching at all, though. These are prices similar to what you'd be paying in the individual marketplace.

    Obamacare on Life Support article

There is plenty of things to criticize on the ACA but this just sounds like they are getting screwed by the employer. For that kind of money you can get a gold level plan with has low/zero deductibles. It just doesn't add up.

Student Debt Is a Major Reason Millennials Aren't Buying Homes

The opposite has been argued. By providing loans you increase the ability of prospective student to attend a school and thus increase the demand. Higher demand means they can (and will) charge more. Same can be said for any subsidized product. The whole thing ends up being a bit ironic.
