USC Pushed a $115,000 Online Degree. Graduates Got Low Salaries, Huge Debts.

drop in the bucket.  pslf is good policy overall.  helps retain public employees at lower compensation who would otherwise seek higher paying private employment. but even if you consider forgiveness programs to be a true writeoff and ignore other positive externalities, federal student loans...

USC Pushed a $115,000 Online Degree. Graduates Got Low Salaries, Huge Debts.

this issue goes a lot deeper than USC btw.  here's a great article on 2U (the company that contracts with USC for this MSW program) and other similar businesses:https://www.huffpost.com/highline/article/capitalist-takeover-college/

USC Pushed a $115,000 Online Degree. Graduates Got Low Salaries, Huge Debts.

I think social workers would typically qualify for PSLF though So even if you take $200k debt, you are just making income based repayment for 10 years and then the balance is forgiven

USC Pushed a $115,000 Online Degree. Graduates Got Low Salaries, Huge Debts.

i may be in minority but i think the current system is pretty good.  easy access to student loans from a single lender and flexible income based repayment. the old systems, private and subsidized private, were inefficient and inequitably distributed.  college education is extremely difficult to...

USC Pushed a $115,000 Online Degree. Graduates Got Low Salaries, Huge Debts.

and what happens when students apply for a high-earning-potential engineering degree and drop out, change majors, or pursue a different lower-earning career after graduation?  are the private lenders going to repossess the degree?  private student lending is a farce.  it's nothing more than a...

What is happening to the Republicans?

am I happy about how the war in Afghanistan, in which many of my friends died, went? no, not particularly luckily I have a sense of humor and find your suggestion of maintaining a "nominal" base at Bagram (and, for that matter, that the US army's warfighting ability is somehow diminished by...

    Congress Elections

Well, more to the point. Anyone expecting some big unified new game changing legislation with a barely held together 50 seats and a narrow house majority is delusional. Biden's term is purely defensive. And only possible because Republicans blew it so hard in 2020. But yeah yeah Dems in...
