The "genius" of the man-made caused climate change argument is any apparent change can be attributed to man-made causes. Since change is constant, well, the believers constantly confirm their beliefs.

Too much snow? Man's fault, buy an EV. Not enough rain? Man's fault, buy an EV. Too hot? Man's fault, buy an EV. Disagree? You're obviously ignorant to The Science(TM).
I can agree with this.

But the reverse can also apply to those who don't want to embrace new technology.

Telephone? Why would I want to talk to someone I can't see? Television? Who needs that in their house? Internet? For what? Smart phone? Why combine all those technologies that I didn't like in the first place into one portable device? EVs? There's no climate change... just keep drilling.

Biden admin quietly admits canceling Keystone XL Pipeline cost thousands of jobs, billions of dollars​

The report, which the Department of Energy (DOE) completed in late December without any public announcement, says the Keystone XL project would have created between 16,149 and 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of between $3.4-9.6 billion, citing various studies. A previous report from the federal government published in 2014 determined 3,900 direct jobs and 21,050 total jobs would be created during construction which was expected to take two years.

Around the world, E.V. sales were projected to have grown 60 percent in 2022, according to a BloombergNEF report prepared ahead of the 2022 U.N. climate conference COP27, bringing total sales over 10 million. There are now almost 30 million electric vehicles on the road in total, up from just 10 million at the end of 2020. E.V. market share has also tripled since 2020.

0.24X200 = $48.

However if they were to charge between 4-9pm, it would cost:
0.62X200 = $124

5 hours at $0.62 and 19 hours at $0.24 average to $0.3192 per hour.
Multiply that by 200 hours gives you $63.83.

Can't fix stupid. In this case that's buying $115K vehicle and not installing a $500 Level 2 electrical outlet to charge it overnight. The hummer has a 212 Kwh capacity. So even run dry is just an overnight charge.

Exactly. It saves a lot of time with a Level 2 charger.

GM said $854 million will be spent to make the sixth-generation small-block V8, and $64 million to help EV production.​


The fifth-generation V8 is currently used in a variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs in a variety of configurations, from the base C8 Corvettes to some versions of the Sierra. News that there will be a sixth-gen comes as only a small surprise, as GM expects to still be selling a lot of gas trucks and SUVs for years to come, likely in part because towing range in electric vehicles still sucks.
 
Anyone catch the review of the new Mercedes EQB in the weekend WSJ? In it he explains how Tesla's price cuts, enabled by their fat margins, really spell doom for the rest of the industry while he makes the laughable comparison of the EQB to the Model Y LR. MBZ might be the first to go BK from the EV push but they all eventually will as they're too far behind. He also talked about Tesla's mega die-casting of large scale aluminum structures - apparently far ahead of everyone else. And I thought it was just batteries, software and materials sourcing contracts where I thought they had an advantage.

I took mine down to 8% and it was nice to charge to 50 in 30 mins at the SC. Can't do that with any other EV.

The US’s transition to electric vehicles could require three times as much lithium as is currently produced for the entire global market, causing needless water shortages, Indigenous land grabs, and ecosystem destruction inside and outside its borders, new research finds.

It warns that unless the US’s dependence on cars in towns and cities falls drastically, the transition to lithium battery-powered electric vehicles by 2050 will deepen global environmental and social inequalities linked to mining – and may even jeopardize the 1.5C global heating target.
