Irvine House Raffle is back again...

We've entered multiple times ever since they started this few years back. Every events we went to see the drawing seems somewhat fishy. I'd love to see some investigation into this. But then again it looks like Irvine PD is it in with them.

Where do you get your Ph??

Momopi thanks for sharing the history of Diho. Quite interesting. When we immigrated from Taiwan back in the early 80's, Diho was actually a single store in the basement of chong shao east road in Taipei, across the street from where Sogo is right now. So when we saw Diho in Monterey...

Where to get Chinese food in Irvine?

I love Wei's. We used to cater from that place all the time. Owner of Chef Chen used to run a restaurant in Huntington Beach, on Beach Blvd near Warner (Used to be Warehouse plaza). Food was excellent then as well. Not sure what's there now. Another good restaurant that used to be...

Where do you get your Ph??

Would that market chain be Din Hao? They had one of the first Chinese market in Irvine. I could never remember the name, but the pho restaurant we always go to is on Newport Blvd just south of the 5fwy. They also own the Pho restaurant in Kohl plaza on Jeffrey by Woodbury. I am...

Another 20%-25% drop in the next 3-4 Years in Irvine?

While there is a presence of realestate related jobs in Irvine, by no mean does it represent the majority job market. There are lots of bio-medical related companies here. Not to mention FDA's brand new lab off of Jamboree. Speaking of FDA's office, In that area there's also what used...

New vs. Old... Huntington vs. Irvine

I see a lot of comments based on stereotyping of both cities. I lived in HB for 20+ years before moving to Irvine. Sure there are stuck up people in Irvine, but we currently have the nicest neighbors in Irvine compared to what we had in HB. I went to Huntington Beach High School and that...

    Sushi in Irvine

Ayame in Orchard Hills is no doubt THE best Japanese sushi restaurant in Irvine, and possibly all of OC. If you are familiar with "Zipangu" in Costa Mesa, this is of the same owner. They have continuously received numerous awards as being the best Sushi restaurant in So Cal. Quality comes at...

Villages of Columbus - Columbus Grove - Lantana

"It is their last five homes in Lantana, there are no other phases - I agree with Rtlguru that this may be the most important factor" Don't they have a final phase next year? That will include the 3 model homes, and the 3-4 homes they'll build next to it.

Villages of Columbus - Columbus Grove - Lantana

$2k/yr seems low. Does that property tax include mello roos? We also purchased a starter home back in 1999 for just under $300K, but our property tax was in the $6K range. Monthly mortgage was below $2K. These properties are being sold in the 700K this past year, thanks to those suicide...

What price would you pay right now for new construction?

$250/sq ft is pretty low. We sold our last house in Oak creek for that back in 2002. Hard to imagine it would drop that much, but I'd be really happy if it did. :)

Villages of Columbus - Columbus Grove - Lantana

I wonder what happens to those who have already put a deposit on those homes closing in December. Do they get the same incentives?

High Density Neighborhoods = No Privacy?

We live in a woodbury detached condo. They designed it smartly where you will rarely see one window facing another. while there are "visual" privacy, you still can't get away with sound privacy. There is a guy living nearby who is just plain noisy. And even with all our windows closed we can...

Portola Springs is right next to the Irvine Landfill

I remember way back there was a landfill near where Turtle Ridge is right now. It was also open to the public where you can drive up and dump anything you want for a fee. The area has changed quite a bit since the 80's so I am not sure where it is exactly anymore.

Where is the good pizza in Irvine ?

We had a gift certificate for "First Class Pizza" over by Irvine Ctr Dr and Sand Canyon. Tried it and it was suprisingly good! It looks like they also have locations on Harvard, and one on Jamboree. It's my favorite pizza place now.
