Middle and high schools in Irvine: private or public

Do you have a particular budget for private school? There is a whole range of schools in the Irvine area from 15k to 30k+. Does your son just need a smaller setting or will he need special services? Feel free to send me a message if you need more information. Thanks!

    Education

Hi Happymom, I think you'd sent me a message online too. I wouldn't trust a "college funding solutions" company. I did a lot of research when I was going through the college process, and those types of companies ended up trying sell me product, or asked me to refinance my mortgage. I worked...

Are there any schools for highly gifted children in Irvine and surrounding area?

Are you talking about elementary or high school? Two out of my three were considered gifted, but I noticed that GATE didn't really provide them anything extraordinary, so I had them participate in outside enrichment activities. At the high school level, there are schools that have better AP/IB...

Top 10 CA High School rankings

These rankings are based on average SAT score, number of AP/IB courses offered, percentage of students going to college, etc. This is definitely an issue of correlation vs. causation. Will going to these scores make your children better than they would elsewhere? Arguably not. Will they have...

Suggestions: Favorite Coffee Spots in Orange County

I love Portola coffee. Their espresso is the best I've had in OC.

    College admissions consultants

When I went through my IEC, we didn't pay these crazy prices that were listed in the articles. I think that's a huge rip off from somebody trying to scare people into college readiness. He also offered test preparation at fraction the price of Elite and my kids didn't have to spent their...

Suicide epidemic at University of Pennsylvania

I think the nature isn't reserved for just schools like Penn. MIT has an abnormally high rate of suicide.https://www.boston.com/news/education/2017/11/05/an-mit-students-tragic-suicide-has-some-asking-whether-schools-can-be-held-responsible Cornell installed fences to prevent students from...

    College Admissions Workshop offering Scholarship/Sponsorship

I don't think they were saying that there is a problem with British English. However, the website doesn't look very credible. I wouldn't trust a British based company to do American college apps. There are a few credible, trustworthy individuals in Irvine that do a good job.

    College admissions consultants

We actually used a consultant in Lake Forest who didn't charge nearly as much. He helped our family out with test preparation and the college process. My two daughters ended up going to Princeton and my son ended up going to Columbia. Send me a message if you want his info.
