So, to answer my own question - The Path on 1st and B (Tustin) will rent you a (good) mountain bike for the day for $55. However, I went to Big Bear instead and rented a bike from Bear Valley Bikes (www.bvbikes.com). Biking at that altitude is hard, but really worth it - it was awesome.
