your opinion on Watermarke Condos ?

Just some added insight into Watermarke, my ex bought the same one bedroom you're looking at in phase one back in mid 2005 and only paid $315k. Granted that was a 1st floor unit but she got some pretty nice upgrades. Take it from me - Don't overpay for a small one bedroom condo that will be...

How computer literate is he? Just direct him towards some of the posts on IHB. A couple days of reading here might open his eyes a little bit to whats going on...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Reason - I'm not subprime, so unless I miss a few credit card payments or something my FICO is above 660. Plus that doesn't address my affordability problem, all that does is lock me in for 5 more years of paying interest only.

    Why shouldn't I walk?

NSR - I have no intention of actually doing this. Or declaring bankruptcy. My whole reason for asking for advice was to evaluate my options. I was just curious as to what happens and how the whole foreclosure process works. If the banks want to go through my records let them, I did not...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Let's pretend that hypothetically I stop making payments on 2/1. How long can I live there "rent free" before I should consider finding an apartment or other housing?

Note - I'll post later about what I've decided to do, I'm just curious how the foreclosure process works.
...

stock market predictions for tomorrow (12/11)

What I think should happen - Nothing. Inflation is rampant and only getting worse. Prices are going up on everything, the dollar is the weakest it's been in years and lowering rates helps no one but investors in the stock market.

What I think will happen - The Fed lowers rates by...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Sorry was typing while others replied...

My place isn't on the market yet so I don't have a true idea of it's value, however a neighbor with a place that isn't quite as nice as mine, mine is an end unit with a lot more windows but otherwise similar sat on the market for 90+ days at...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

I did see the thread on the Florida properties, fortunately I don't think hell needs to freeze over for prices in So Cal to recover, however realistically if it's 10 years before I'm even back to even and I can't refi...

I understand the moral argument, and if I didn't have some...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

All -

Thank you for your responses, all of your comments have allowed me to really expand my thinking and take a little time to evaluate my options. I'll keep you updated.

One last question - Hypothetically let's pretend I list and get a reasonable asking price where I'm...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Awgee - Thanks.

On a side note, clearly this would be a huge benefit to me, but if congress does pass such a bill and Bush signs it, both of which I'd fully expect coming into an election year, aside from the credit impact, which admittedly would be huge, there is zero liability for...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

rkp - I can't tell if you're kidding or not??

I don't want to go wild with credit cards before filing BK, although that's not a bad idea, why not just take a month long trip to Australia if I'm going to go down in flames... my goal in posting here originally was to see what options...

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Sorry - I meant the interest rates go up to ~30%.

    Why shouldn't I walk?

Nano - 2 problems with that. Once the foreclosure goes through, actually once my first payment is late, my credit card rates are going to skyrocket up to 30% in most cases won't they?

And two, I'll need to rent before that foreclosure hits because any decent landlord is going to...
