CUSD Strike

It's been resolved but I found the whole thing interesting as it seemed like it could have been avoided.

It reminds me of back when people were trying to pass Measure A (a tax on Irvine homeowners to pay for the IUSD budget deficits) and the teachers/parents would say that by voting against it you are not supporting your schools and their jobs.

To me, a good community will always find a way without having to resort to taxes (which happened since Measure A was defeated and private funds made up for the shortfall).

I know there are people who don't like it when we compare school districts but I do think it says something when the community stands behind it and will reach into their own pockets to support it. It's a big reason why the IUSD is regarded so well (and not just them, there is that kind of support in others too) which is why there is so much emphasis placed on the quality of the schools in a place you want to buy a home in.

Maybe CUSD needed one of those 'Dream Home Raffle' programs...  ;)
