Irvine Co. tops year's home-sales goal in month
A year's sales in a month. That's what the Irvine Co. says it has mined in its new project at Woodbury and Woodbury East in Irvine.
The developer has it's passed the 200-home for sign contracts to buy homes in these new projects ? the best pace since September 2005 ? since the opening a month ago. That has led the six homebuilders in these projects to "accelerated future phase releases to meet the demand generated by homebuyers." (Photos above are from two homes in the project. Says Dan Young, the president of Irvine Company Community Development: "In October we believe that ? given the data we had to work with at that time ? we would sell 200 homes during calendar year 2010. We've surpassed that number in just four weeks, and have accelerated new phases of homes twice. ? When we announced that we were going to begin building again, to say it was met with some healthy skepticism would be an understatement. Many of our industry peers cautioned us to wait, told us we were building too soon and that we were setting ourselves up for failure. Well, it's said that if you don't make things happen, then things will happen to you. We made this happen."
