Cheesecake Factory will roll out a Happy Hour menu starting today in select OC restaurants.

Cheesecake Factory is making an ambitious, but perhaps long overdue effort, to attract bar foodies.

The 147-unit casual dining chain is launching its first-ever Happy Hour program with discounted cocktails and a spread of 15 full-size appetizers for nearly half-price. Restaurants in Orange County (except Newport Beach) will be the first in the chain to debut the Happy Hour menu, which starts today in Brea, Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo and Irvine.

The new bar deals will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Newport Beach Cheesecake Factory will debut the Happy Hour menu next Thursday. The company said the rest of the restaurants will debut the bar menu in "five waves" over the next few weeks. The roll out should be complete by March 18 at all 147 locations.

The menu lowdown: The menu will offer $5 specialty cocktails (Mojito, Long Island Iced Tea, Margarita, J.W.'s Pink Lemonade and Cosmopolitan); $5 select well drinks; $5 select wines by the glass. Beer offerings vary by locations.

As for the food, the following full-size appetizers, which normally cost anywhere from $7.50 to $10.95, will be offered for $5: roadside sliders, hot spinach and cheese dip, avocado eggrolls, fried macaroni and cheese, Sweet Corn, tamale-cakes, fire-roasted fresh artichoke, Vietnamese shrimp summer roll, made-to-order guacamole, Tex-Mex eggrolls, fried calamari, factory nachos, buffalo blasts, Southern fried chicken sliders, chicken pot stickers and crispy crab wontons.

Demand prompts Cheesecake Factory to move up Happy Hour launch

Late last week, we gave you the exclusive news that Cheesecake Factory was rolling out its first-ever Happy Hour in stages, starting with a few restaurants in Orange County.

But due to overwhelming response to The Register's article, Cheesecake Factory ? one of the nation's best known casual dining chains ? said all local restaurants will launch the Happy Hour tonight, a company representative told me today via email.
