The baking facility made cookies, cakes, muffins and pastries for a number of mom and pop stores, as well big brands. Besides Panera Bread and Walmart stores, the Dawn Foods plant supplied Southern California grocery stores such as Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons.

Michigan-based Dawn Foods, a global supplier of baked goods to food retailers and restaurants, confirmed this week that the plant closed Jan. 15 as part of a company-wide initiative to consolidate manufacturing to save costs.
