Mezzanine Restaurant is among the latest restaurants in Orange County to close its doors before the New Year.

Prosser's husband, Juerg Boo, founded the restaurant, located at the Newport Gateway Towers, 20 years ago. The Irvine Co. acquired the Newport Gateway complex for about $215 million in 2006, according to the Orange County Business Journal.

Since that time, the restaurant has taken a major hit as tenants of the business complex have folded or fled to cheaper office spaces, Prosser said.

That's too bad. I remember that place from way back. They were nice people.

I know TIC is trying to stay with their branding and all, but at what point does "that's business" become "you're an inflexible jerk?"
