"ANAHEIM DUO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THEFTS FROM VEHICLES"

"IRVINE, CA (December 22, 2009): Irvine Police have arrested two Anaheim residents in connection with a series of thefts.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 22, 2009 Irvine Officers received information that a subject was pulling on door handles of vehicles parked in the parking lot of an apartment community in the 1100 block of Quail Ridge. When Officers arrived, they detained one individual who was in the area and matched the description of the subject pulling on the vehicle door handles. Through investigation it was determined that the subject was in possession of a burglary tool, a window punch. He was also in possession of gloves and a flashlight. Through additional investigation the subject's vehicle was located in an adjacent complex. The vehicle was occupied by the subject's fiances and their two young children. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of porcelain chips, which are commonly used by thieves to shatter vehicle windows. The suspect's vehicle was also found to have contained property that had been stolen in recent vehicle and business burglaries.

The male suspect was arrested for suspicion of possession of burglary tools, vehicle tampering, and conspiracy to commit vehicle burglary. The female subject was arrested for suspicion of possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit vehicle burglary, possession of marijuana, and child endangerment for having her children with her while she and her fiances acted in furtherance of their conspiracy to commit vehicle burglary. The children were lodged in an emergency shelter home.

The property recovered included GPS units, a laptop computer, several cell phones, hand tools, credit cards, identification and a checkbook. So far, police have located six victims but believe there may be others that have not yet discovered or reported their loss. People living in the area are encouraged to check their vehicles and report any losses to the Irvine Police Department. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Wayne Brannon at (949) 724-7177."

That is pretty sad you have to take your kids with you on burglar run in Irvine. I don't know if it is the bad economy or not but people are getting more desperate it seems.
