I think this is going to end up like the Veteran's cemetery.  The NIMBY's will win and more apartments will get built in what was once billed as a "Great Park". 

I can still remember the leaflet promising a park that would rival Balboa Park in San Diego when OC voters voted on what to do with El Toro Marine Base.  Nothing about home development from what I remember.

Not just Balboa Park, I recall hearing about Central Park comparison as well…lol
