Walmart appears to be venturing into the metaverse with plans to create its own cryptocurrency and collection of NFTs.
The big-box retailer filed several new trademarks late last month that indicate its intent to make and sell virtual goods."

- McDonald's has filed trademarks to set up a virtual restaurant in the metaverse
- Virtual restaurant will be able to deliver food in person and also digitally online
- A number of other brands are staking their claim to territory in the metaverse
- Other brands have filed trademarks including Panera Bread which has termed it a 'Paneraverse', while Crocs, Nike, Microsoft and Walmart are also planning to
- The metaverse is an online world in which users' avatars meet, interact and explore a fast-growing network of virtual locations"
