This is a hole in the wall restaurant run by a Japanese family brave enough to start their own business last year.  I'm happy to say that they have survived and is now open for dine-in with monthly specials (see board inside restaurant).

This is not some 5 star hotel restaurant.  It's honest good home cooking at affordable price.  Chicken is juicy and tender, rice is soft, and tsukemono fresh & crunchy.  It's located near Alton & Portola Parkway in Ralphs center, about 10 mins from Spectrum.

Nice promo. Family restaurant?  ;) jkjk

What are the prices like?
($ $$ $$$)

$12 for the jidori chicken bento lunch set.  Menu pic is at yelp.

For monthly specials they have everything from $9 oden to $20 sea urchin cream pasta and $33 prime rib eye steak sets.

Oh I go here regularly. I highly recommend all the food. It is pricier than you would expect though and the portioning isn't big.

I went here when it first opened, had the ribeye steak with homemade curry and was amazing but cost around $20 for lunch.  Good to go one in awhile but gets expensive if you are doing take out for the family.

I had pork curry there today, $15.  It's thinly sliced pork and not pork katsu.  Be warned that the curry is not spicy, so if you like it spicy you need to tell them ahead.

Has anyone dined at Ahi Ahi Sushi Bar & Grill across the street, or Izakaya Tenko down the street?

Ahi Ahi's has been our "go to" sushi stop. I will say they've gotten too busy and need to hire 1-2 other wait staff to handle customers properly. The chefs are friendly and quick, but a 15 min wait for your check is not great.
