Pre-IPO investing

A few sites that facilitate this process are:
https://equityzen.com/
https://forgeglobal.com/
https://www.spaceangels.com/

They charge a bunch of fees and your money is tied up.

Anyone here have experience investing in companies before they before public via these brokers or others?

Yes, I think you need to qualify as an Accredited Investor (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/accreditedinvestor.asp).
- Net worth (excluding primary residence) of $1m
OR
- Annual income over $200k or Joint Annual income (a couple) over $300k

There are some deals that require you to be a Qualified Purchaser which requires you to have $5mil in investments (https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/02/14/what-is-a-qualified-purchaser.aspx).

But the vast majority require qualifying as an Accredited Investor.
