FAKE NEWS

Starting THE FAKE NEWS thread so we can all stay with facts around the town. I'll start with things discussed here at TI first.


1. Odor/pollution from Frank Bowerman Landfill for some Irvine villages.

2. Coronavirus patient in Irvine.

3. Related to #2, but a coronavirus infected patient visiting DJ, IVC, Kaiser, South Coast Plaza, etc.

4. Odor from All American Asphalt at Jeffrey Rd.

Another fake news

- Irvine home owners don't own the homes they buy but the city owns them.

This is probably the most spread fake one among non-Irvine residents. I get asked this all the time and they think I'm lying when I say we do own the home. As far as I know, only the UCI owned homes, which are usually for staff and faculties, fall into this city/school-owned category.

I think this is the *land* not the home.

There were some areas where the land was leased but this is not the case in most places.
