Overhead Patio Structure Setback requirements

Hi all. We are in the process of beginning our landscaping. The HOA came back to us and said that our proposed overhead patio structure meets the HOA requirements but does not meet the city or Irvine's requirements. I could not find any information from the city of Irvine on their requirements (set backs, size, material, etc.). Does anyone know where to find this or know what the requirements are? I can always call the city in the morning, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this issue.
