Marugame Udon

I am blessed to have a wife that can cook udon and Ramen at home better than most of these spots.

Only thing she can?t quite master yet (in Asian food cooking) is the curry sauce flavor at curry house.  She?s close but thinks there is some secret ingredient.  Tried butter, heavy cream, etc but still doesn?t taste exactly same as curry house. 
 
It?s just a new fad thing.

The udon place in Mitsuwa is similar.

We went to the one in LA and it?s nothing special although I?m not really an udon fan.
 
There use to be a line at the mitsuwa ramen place, but now the udon place is much more popular.  I think it's because the ramen place costs $13+ for a bowl while the udon place is still around $8.

Do you notice the same thing?

Apparently they just opened a few weeks ago but the wait line is pretty impressive, longer than DTF.

This was the place I tried my very first udon! I have enjoyed every other time after that. Outside of udon, they have many good house-made side dishes to choose from (such as several types of tempura, spam musubi, crab meat musubi, etc)! Prices are very cheap and the place is self-seating. Parking, like many places in this area in Sawtelle, is street parking only. Can't wait to go back.
