Actress Kim Tae-hee buys $2 million house in Irvine

A few years ago I was at Caesars Palace in Vegas and there was like 100 hot Korean girls fawning over some guy walking through the Casino.  I guess it was Rain and he had a concert there the following night.  Never heard of the guy <shrug>

The first Rain drama that I watched was "Full House" (2004) with Song Hye-kyo as the female lead.  It was incredibly popular for the time and had >40% ratings in Korean market and also popular abroad.  However he would never replicate the same level of success in later TV dramas, versus Song Hye-Kyo's later success in "Descendants of the Sun".

I liked Full House but for K drama of that era, I think Coffee Prince (2007) with Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun-Hye was better.

Only 2M house?  Guess Korean celebrities don't get paid as much as Americans?

It's not comparable due to market size difference.  For HBO's Game of Thrones, the top paid actors/actresses were paid $500,000 per episode in season 7, and $700,000 per episode in season 8.  Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) was paid $212,000 per episode.

In South Korea the top paid TV drama actors/actresses earn $20,000 to $140,000 per episode for the evening dramas that typically runs for 16 episodes.  Lee Byung Hun was paid 150 million won ($140K USD) per episode in Mister Sunshine, which ran for extended 24 episodes.  His total pay was ~$3.2 million USD for 24 episode drama.  Kit Harrington got paid just as much for 7 episodes in season 7 of GoT.

If we look at production budget, Game of Thrones season 8 cost over $15 million per episode, versus Korea's "Arthdal Chronicals" (now on Netflix) cost $3 million per episode.

As for Rain, he has his wife has been in the entertainment industry for 2 decades.  Rain's estimated net worth is $18 million USD, but he has his wife own combined $43 million worth of real estate in SK.  He has been investing in RE for years.  In 2008 he bought $10 million USD commercial property in Gangnam.

Just FYI, Kim Tae Hee and Rain owns $6+ million house in Seoul, Korea.  This home is probably like a vacation home for kids to goto school and for their U.S. career.

Anti-fan's and sour grapes on the internet are claiming that they're planning to give birth (2nd baby) in the US.  She is due in Sept.

And the rumor mill thinks it's a boy so that he could avoid military service.

If that was the intention, I don't think they would wait this late when the baby is due in 3 months.

Anyways, I expect to see photos of Rain and his family on local Korean restaurant walls in near future.

In the mean time...  /me huggles tickets for Twice concert in July  :D
