Damn Socialism, Why Are You Chasing Me?

I love that people confuse authoritianism with communism or socialism.

Or the inability to separate socialism from communism.

See...Norway:  Democratic socialism...China:  Authoritarian communism...and now authoritarian capitalism.

As society (or country) gets older and more crowded, the higher the taxes and more laws.  The taxes are used to fund various socialist programs until the government couldn't afford to pay.  Sometimes poverty will force a reset for the next cycle.

On China the leadership is more pragmatic and less ideological, it's perfectly acceptable to turn communist party policy toward capitalism and call it "Socialism with Chinese characteristics".  If they thought the CCP would profit more from religion, I wouldn't put it past them to put BTS style boy band on stage rapping "It's official!  God is Back!" (See:  Starship Troopers Movie #3:  Marauder).  Look at um, Dilraba Dilmurat for "acceptable minority role model".

To me...it's a matter of intention and who the policies benefits.  In Norway, the country uses its assets and social collective powers to better society as a whole, with the belief that it will improve the society and the related economy.

In China, all of the policies are meant to benefit the CCP, either directly or indirectly.  CCP could not care less about the average Chinese person, rather just to keep itself in power.

In the US, we are trending toward policies that benefit the rich/ultrarich and businesses.

To update a quote from Samuel Rosenman, the American economic philosophy since 1980's is that the object of government is to provide prosperity for those who lived and worked at the top of the economic pyramid, in the belief that prosperity would trickle down to the bottom of the heap and benefit all.

Sure...Founding Fathers were mostly rich educated white males, many of them landowners.

Just think the pendulum has swung way too much to the top.
