Donor gives Woodbury students $10 each to 'Pay it Forward'

IRVINE ? An anonymous Irvine family has found a new way to "Pay if Forward," giving $10 to each Woodbury Elementary student to spark a wave of random acts of kindness.

Hoping to kick off a "chain reaction of kindness" the unnamed Woodbury parents have donated a combined $6,292 dollars, with students, teachers and parents this week deciding how to pass the windfall on to deserving individuals and organizations.

The donors were touched by Woodbury's "value-centered" curriculum, Principal ChrissAnn Shane said, deciding to do their part to demonstrate the meaning of kindness and compassion.

Oh man, I'm glad this didnt happen when I was that age. I would have paid it forward... in the form of a contribution to the economy through the purchase of candy.

This must be a common theme this month among public schools. Saw there was another article in the OC Register in Costa Mesa (http://www.ocregister.com/news/children-224649-random-mesa.html) about kids paying it forward. I also saw at the Albertson on Irvine Blvd & Culver--giving away free recyclable shopping bags and encouraging shoppers who take a free bag to buy one for someone else.
