A lot of these are charter schools right?  3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 are I think - maybe more.
Mission San Jose is like 90% asian.

These rankings are based on average SAT score, number of AP/IB courses offered, percentage of students going to college, etc. This is definitely an issue of correlation vs. causation.

Will going to these scores make your children better than they would elsewhere? Arguably not. Will they have more resources and better instructors? Maybe. Will they be surrounded by more like-minded kids? Maybe. Will competition become more extreme? Possibly. Will going to a less competitive school make your child suffer? Absolutely not. I utilized all the resources I had at my disposal and my kids still did okay.

Arnold O. Beckman High ranked higher than Uni at #55?

 really?! I bet Beckman rankings will also go up when most kids from orchard hills start attending there right? I actually want my kids in a less competitive TUSD high school but maybe Beckman won't be that much less competitive.

I've had kids at Beckman since 2010 and it has always been competitive if your kid is on the AP track. I agree with Paris, Beckman will get more competitive through the years because of the OH kids. At this week's 8th grade promotion, almost every student was either on the president's or principal's honor roll. I never recalled that many kids receiving honor roll when my oldest was at Pioneer Middle School.

I've known a couple of families that didn't want their kids to go Beckman, so they chose Foothill instead.

Irvine High?

How many schools are in California?

Isn't being in the top 100... or even 200... good enough?

Irvine?s about max ROI. That includes the schools.

The report shows how people were mislead that Irvine has the best schools. (replace the best with safe)

No it doesn't... it just shows rankings of schools which Irvine has many in the top 100, and as someone else said, IUSD schools are public schools. Most of those charter schools might as well be private schools because from what I remember, there are entrance requirements (for Irvine you just need to live in the city/hood).

So if you're looking for a city with highly ranked and safe public schools, Irvine doesn't mislead anyone.

I like transparency. The city didn?t say it, but people selling homes do. I think they should remove the verbiage award winning schools from the brochures. They should put an asterisk with the statewide HS rating.

The schools are award winning.

You can't base the "best" schools on a single US News article. There are many factors in what makes up "best".

What are the "people selling homes" referencing? Do you have links?

This is what I see in an email from TIC on May 21:

The Villages of Irvine are masterfully-planned to give you and your family the opportunity to live your best life, including resort-style amenities, trails and open space, top-rated schools, employment centers, and shopping, dining and entertainment moments from your brand new home.

"Top-rated schools" is accurate. I have more of a problem with "resort-style amenities".
