Brain Candy can be unforgettable.
This seven page short story by James Thurber is the best story I ever read our children.  It is equally entertaining to parents and grandparents.

I think you pay a few bucks more for ad-free Hulu.

Think I saw a deal for Disney+ only for 3 years and was only $3-4/month if you prepaid.  Not bad if you only want Disney+ and not ESPN/Hulu.

That’s ok. Already get regular ESPN. Just want + for the live UFC events that used to be free on Fox Sports.

So important a story that it merits a reboot.  No appreciation for it that I can detect.  More's the pity.

My kids often play games, they hate to read books :(

Why don't you read to them after putting them to bed?
My grown daughter said to me some years ago, "The most important thing you did for us was to teach us to love to read."

She went on to earn her MBA.
Many Moons is only 7 pages.  It's not that hard.

I'm going to try this one tonight - always looking for something new to read to the kids.

Was there another thread for Many Moons?

I thought I commented on it but must be somewhere else.

It's a very interesting read that actually teaches a good lesson about perspective and perception.

Instead of "entertainment", consider teaching your child gardening, foraging, cooking, canning, fermentation (food preservation), fishing, fire making, water finding, building and cooking with solar oven, etc.

There are some good outdoor classes avail in LA.  Due to current situation many outdoor classes have been cancelled or is held on Zoom only.  I'd suggest waiting until the in-person classes resume:

http://www.schoolofself-reliance.com/
http://www.urbanoutdoorskills.com/

There are many projects you can make at home with your kids, such as DIY solar cooker with Amazon delivery box, foil, and duct tape.  Many DIY instructions and recipes online.  You can make more sturdy solar cooker with wood and glass/mirror -- the parts can be purchased from home depot or Lowes, they will custom cut for you.

You can also order custom cut lumber from Home Depot/Lowes to build your own raised planter with your kids, and teach them how to grow vegetables.  With space being a premium in Irvine, you could build a 2 level elevated planter and plant shade tolerant vegetables on bottom.  Use chicken wire and landscape fabric to line the bottom (instead of solid wood bottom) of the upper box so you can water both levels at same time.
