I can tell you this. I would not give up like that. They have to use technology and the knowledge to hire the right people. As someone told me, Sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and get the job done yourself.

* they might have to be a chef or the host or server for a month or two or many months (you know what I am saying)

Note: I do not know the entire situation, but I am giving my opinion.
Due diligence or better yet a simple question would have picked that up when they bought the business.

Curry House closed because of difficulty in replacing illegal alien employees:

https://laist.com/2020/02/27/curry_house_restaurant_closing_japanese_curry_food_los_angeles_impact_sad.php

New owners bought Curry House last year and discovered all the kitchen staff were illegals. They wanted to do the right thing so they fired all the illegals but the hiring and training of legal staff was so difficult and time consuming the new owners threw the towel in.

The new owner could have filed for Green Card for all those hard working staff.  :D
Just saying out of missing that place.  :'(

BTW, Cream Pan serves curries now.

Have you been to the new Cream Pan location @ Fountain Valley?

Only the Tustin one.

I suspect the real issue was the same one you see over and over with business owners.  They want to pay $x, they can't hire people at $x, they can't pay more without cutting their  profit margin and they either can't raise prices (because people won't pay more) or they're afraid or just have too much ego about it.

Just googled that Fountain Valley location. It looks so much fancier than the original one. I guess they benefited from Trump's tax. JK ;D

Breakout!!

Withholding funds: Trump begins crackdown on sanctuary cities

Thanks to a ruling from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan on February 26, federal funding can be withheld from sanctuary cities and states across America. Thursday President Trump delivered a message via tweet – sanctuary cities had better change their status or federal funding will be cut.

So strange that a court would even need to decide this.  Last I checked we have a Federalist system of government.

Obama sure believed in the supremacy of federal law as it pertains to immigration...

Supreme Court mostly rejects Arizona immigration law; gov says 'heart' remains

In a decision sure to ripple across the political landscape in a presidential election year, the court's 5-3 ruling upheld the authority of the federal government to set immigration policy and laws.
"The National Government has significant power to regulate immigration," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion. "Arizona may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration while that process continues, but the State may not pursue policies that undermine federal law."

US Supreme Court grants Trump’s emergency request on “remain in Mexico” policy

The policy allows the administration to send asylum seekers who pass through Mexico on their way to the US back to Mexico—a “contiguous territory”—where their applications are processed. Previously, removal for asylum seekers was not expedited and such claims were handled inside the US if an asylum applicant expressed a “credible fear” of return to their home country. Now, they are returned to Mexico promptly, where immigration advocates say some migrants also face persecution but don’t dare articulate such a fear at the US border.

Biden reaches deal with Mexico to restart Trump 'Remain in Mexico' policy
Quote
U.S. and Mexican officials struck an agreement re-implementing the Migrant Protection Protocols program, otherwise known as "Remain in Mexico," and plan to announce it Thursday, according to the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. The Biden administration was forced to follow the Remain in Mexico plan by a Supreme Court order earlier this year.

Biden suspended the Remain in Mexico policy upon taking office and originally tried to end it in June, but was successfully sued by Texas and Missouri to reinstate it and lost an appeal to the Supreme Court. The administration has been in the process of restarting the program to fulfill the court order while it works to end it in a way that can withstand another legal challenge.

The law of unintended consequences....here is what a soft border gets you...not happy immigrants but miserable  slaves...

US slavery, 2021: Human-trafficking ring trapped hundreds of migrant workers picking onions for 20-cents per bucket in south Georgia as part of years-long $200M operation that saw two die and another repeatedly raped
Slavery ring raked in more than $200 million in southern Georgia
Two workers died in brutal conditions that saw them picking onions at gunpoint
Migrants were kept in squalid camps surrounded by electric fencing
Conspirators accused of raping, kidnapping, threatening to kill the migrants
Twenty-four members of the crime ring are now facing mail fraud, forced labor, money laundering and witness tampering charges
Federal officials have been investigating the ring for three years in a probe dubbed 'Operation Blooming Onion'
