Anyone have any experience or understanding of affordable housing in Irvine?  If your income falls in in the Moderate range and you apply for an apartment at one of those qualified communities, do you get a lower rent that than their online published rates?

Also, can that be just one person with that income or does it have to be a larger family size?  Thanks.

The only thing I know about Irvine affordable apartments is that an elderly couple applied for Irvine senior affordable housing back in the early 2000's and finally got a spot in 2015.  So the line is about 10 years long.

"Very Low Income
Rent restricted, affordable programs available for qualifying individuals with income restrictions beginning at 50% area median.

From $34,150 to $60,450

Low Income
Rent restricted, affordable programs available for qualifying individuals with income restrictions beginning at 80% area median.

From $48,750 to $80,750."

So if you made less than $34K/year and falls below very low income category, does that mean you are in "poverty" category?
