Landscape trees for privacy?

I was discussing which landscape trees to use. One of the options is the boxwood green tower trees from Monrovia but I believe they are very expensive compared to other options. What do most people use? Any good alternative that grows rather straight without expanding too much. It's a concern as my backyard is rather small.

Indian Laurel Fig is a good option, they look nice and grow / fill in quickly.  They have these at Moon Valley Nursery on Sand Canyon and Alton:http://www.moonvalleynurseries.com/trees/hedge_material/ficus_nitida_columns

I think they're overpriced there though.  I found mine at Home Depot for $55 each (for 15 gallon), and just hauled them home and planted myself.  I planted mine about 2 months back and I can already see a few inches of growth, they're pretty hearty too, don't need a lot of TLC from what I gather.

Hope you installed root barriers.  Ficus trees have huge root systems that can lift walls and sidewalks.

Is that part of the Ficus family?  If so, I would not plant that anywhere near a house due to Ficus having very strong and aggressive roots that can damage pipes and foundations.

Maybe the ones I bought at HD aren't ficus, they didn't have a label but they look like a fig of some sort.  Very similar to the hedges in picture 7 of this listing:https://www.redfin.com/CA/Irvine/113-Fairgrove-92618/home/51684916

Anyhow they are about 30 feet from my house so not too worried.

Damn Ronnie, planting trees without a label... you're a landscape baller!

Those are definitely ficus.  Figs have characteristic leaves a la Adam & Eve.

I'm pretty bad at all things plant related, irrigation, etc.  I have to admit at the time I just thought to myself "that looks nice, and I have the perfect spot for it", not even thinking about the nature and growth of the root structure.
