Irvine PD posted photos of the suspects and a video, then took down the video. Crazy to see them creeping into the house, guns drawn.

The video clip is still up on the IPD FB page.
There’s more to this story than a random robbery right?

Cops say they think this was an isolated incident so I’m guessing they have proof the victim was targeted?  Somebody must recognize those guys from the pics...

Great job IPD and FBI for catching these criminals.

Ex-Jamaican police officer, 2 others, charged with killing 20-year-old man in Irvine home invasion

Three men, including a former Jamaican police officer, are facing murder charges in an Irvine home invasion that left one man dead and another seriously injured last year.

Devon Quinland, 33, of Westminster, Andre Andrews, 34, of Miramar, Florida and Omar Miller, 41, of Lauderdale, Florida, each were charged with multiple felony counts, including murder, conspiracy and assault.

They also face a “special circumstances” enhancement; because the killing is alleged to have occurred during the commission of a burglary, prosecutors could pursue the death penalty.

Police had received a call about an injured man in a home on Bayleaf Lane in Irvine on Oct. 26, 2019 at around 5:45 a.m.

A man told officers that he and his roommate had been assaulted in the home, according to prosecutors. He and another man, who had been shot several times, were taken to a hospital.

The gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police identified him as 20-year-old Raymond Alcala.

Irvine police officials previously indicated that they believed the suspects had intended to rob the victims in their home. Surveillance video and images of two of the suspects was released several days after the alleged robbery.

It isn’t clear what led police to tie Quinland, Andrews and Miller to the killing, or what the relationship is, if any, between the three men and the victims. Prosecutors identified Miller as a former Jamaican police officer, but did not say what led him to leave his law enforcement career.

On Dec. 17, Irvine police arrested Quinland in Westminster, and the FBI helped arrest Andrews and Miller in Florida, according to a statement by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Andrews and Miller were extradited to California on Jan. 22, the DA’s office said. All three defendants are being held without bail.

None of the men entered pleas during their initial court appearances on Thursday.

Another great job by IPD in catching a criminal. Check out the cool drone used to catch the guy hiding in a backyard.

Ha!  Good thing that trellis had a rip in the middle so you could easily see his heat signature right through the beams.  What are the odds.

Police arrested a man minutes after a robbery at an Irvine bank as employees followed the robber and directed officers to him, authorities said.

Officials were first alerted of trouble when a silent robbery alarm was activated inside the Bank of America at 4500 Barranca Parkway, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Transient arrested on suspicion of arson after 5 fires set along 261 Toll Road in Irvine

By Eric Licas | elicas@scng.com and Alma Fausto | afausto@scng.com | Orange County Register
PUBLISHED: February 25, 2021 at 6:28 p.m. | UPDATED: February 25, 2021 at 6:58 p.m.

Police have arrested a homeless man suspected of setting multiple fires to bushes along the 261 Toll Road in Irvine on Wednesday night. At least two of the five fires were less than a block from homes.

Firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority first responded to reports of burning brush along the toll road near the 5 Freeway at about 6:22 p.m., Irvine Police said. They quickly extinguished the fire, which was initially deemed accidental.

But more flames were reported about two hours later and less than 1.5 miles away, near the toll road and Bryan Ave, police said. Officers deployed a drone while firefighters put out the second fire, and captured footage of what appeared to be a man igniting another near Irvine Boulevard.

He was seen squatting near an open flame amidst brush near the toll road and Irvine Boulevard in a video released by police Thursday. He then walked a short distance away from the fire, laid down in a patch of vegetation and covered himself in a blanket, IPD Sgt. Karie Davies said.

Officers located him and took him into custody without incident, police said. He was identified as 41-year-old Jose Antonia LozanoMartinez, and described as a transient whose last known address was in Santa Ana, Davies said.

He was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of arson. Further information about the fires or why Lozano-Martinez might have wanted to spark them was not immediately released.

Davies said he was not lighting the fires to stay warm.

A total of five fires burned in the area “in a relatively short amount of time,” Davies said. At least two of those fires were set less than a block away from homes, and could have grown out of hand due to Southern California’s nearly year-around fire danger conditions. Earlier this week, forecasters warned of strong winds that would be blowing in the region. Gusts along with warm, dry air is a recipe for wildfires.

Yikes! If true, that sounds like a horrible crime. I didn't see anything on the IPD website or facebook page about the incident. Makes me a little suspicious. Did the victim report the incident?

IPD finally put out a press release and the whole thing was caught on video. I hope someone knows this young man and turns him in. There can't be many young Husky owners in that part of Irvine.
