Did you get over charged by your doctor

I am just wondering is it just me or other people have a same problem.

I go to my doctor for annual checkup every year. the annual checkup is supposed to be fully covered by our insurance. However 80% of the time, we will get a bill for that because the doctor office send in the wrong code to the insurance company & the lab. And this year again they send the wrong code. And every time, I have to call in and ask them to fix the problem.

My kid went to see his doctor for checkup and got billed because we discuss something during the checkup so now it's a doctor's visit.

According to my doctor, the compensation they got for the annual checkup is much less than it's used to be. Is that the reason for them to come up with some creative way to make some extra money ?

Probably, but can't blame the doctor try bill what ever he could.

With ACT implementation,  some doctors are quitting and some clinic are no longer accepting new insurance, because the fee are just too low.  Medi-Cal are cutting it's already very low reimbursement fee by 10% at beginning of the year.  Most insurance follow Medi-Cal's rate and most of Covered California coverage are thorough Medi-Cal programs.

more and more doctors are turning to concierge medicine - id pay a couple grand a year to be able to email a doctor or be able to get a house visit. Patient count went from 2000 to 400 patients and he makes the same amount of money.

When patients become a number instead of a person it's easy for a doctor to misdiagnose. I like the idea of paying for concierge service.  However that price is only good if someone visits the doctor a lot anyway. It's not cost effective for the healthy young crowd. Just my 2 cents.... Cause that's all I have left at the moment.
