Best Chinese restaurant

What's the next to the best one, then?

Depends on what you're looking for...Sam Woo BBQ is pretty decent middle of the road not completely catered to the white man food.  A&J has some decent Taiwanese offerings.  The new stuff popping up that are coming over from SGV and Rowland are good but getting crowded.  Tasty Noodle had some decent offerrings for dumplings and soups.  Chef Chen isn't a bad choice either.  Noodle Express dumplings are OK but not fantastic.  Din Tai Fung coming to South Coast.  Personally I think it way overrated, but people love it.

Capital Seafood makes some pretty good food...but just a little bit on the pricier side of things.

I am looking for a good quality authentic food, with little to none American cusine footprint

Try Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechuan Restaurant
Suite C  5406 Walnut Ave, Irvine, CA 92604

The most authentic Szechuan restaurant in Irvine, followed by:

Spicy City
14310 Culver Dr,  Irvine, CA 92604

Irvine has quite good Chinese food, it's just expensive.

Capital Seafood is quite decent but pricey.

Tri-Village supposed to have an excellent Peking duck.

Most of the restaurants in the OrangeTree Plaza are decent.

Where is Tyler? I want to hear his opinion on the best chinese restaurant in Irvine... we probably will have the same answer.

Chong Qing has really good egg plant.

I have many different favorites for varying ethnicities. Unfortunately they aren't in Irvine, haha. (Besides Chong Qing)

Many different irvine places are good for specific dishes though.

101 noodle has a good "Chinese burrito"

Yu's Garden has a couple good tofu dishes in the plate section.

I like A and J's chicken rice with "sour vegetable"

Thank you, all. It's indeed very helpful.
I see a few comments about the options around Irvine. I don't mind driving around. So, what do we have outside of Irvine?

Tri village closed. It's now a Korean restaurant.

/facepalm... I knew that...it's not a very good Korean restaurant at that.

you guys should try the breakfast quesadilla at Taco bell, sausage, egg and cheese, on a big ass tortilla, only 99 cents, excellent deal. much better than dim sum.

they have decent sulongtang (sp?) but I'm sure a korean person would probably disagree.

There are a lot of other places you can get better and cheaper sulongtang in Irvine.  They also have terrible side dishes.

Where? I mainly go to tang for convenience.

Dae Myoung Ok and Seoul Haus are better.  For Korean food, Korean House and Doo Rae are both excellent.
