...ranked 2nd in API, but when factoring in other considerations the OC Register gave Pioneer the highest ranking of all OC Middle Schools. That school is a big reason why we want this area. The fact that it is less than 10 years old also is appealing.



I also think that Beckman (only 5 years old) is going to continue to devleop into a very good HS, rivaling its neighbor Northwood. Of course there will always be those that ding Beckman for its *diversity* because of the school boundaries --- but I actually think it is not necessarily a bad thing to have HS kids start to be exposed to some people from the real world outside of their Irvine bubble, while still being safely inside the Irvine bubble. Besides, even with the *diversity* rolled into the API score, Beckman scores just behind 3 of the 4 IUSD HS; and if you drill into the API results a little further and look at the scores for Beckman vs. neighboring Northwood in demographic peer groups, the peer groups score almost identical at Beckman and NW. So maybe the education in the 714 area code isn't so inferior after all?
