College Football 2009 Thread

Since I know we have several College Football fans and the season has officially started with the Oregon vs. Boise St. game (which SUCKS because of the lack of offense) I wanted to start this thread. Even though I'm a big USC football fan, I still realize that Florida with Timmy Boy will be the team to beat this year. I'm not sure why Pete will start Rich Barkley at QB as a true freshman (even though he went to my HS...GO MONARCHS!). Defense should be good with Taylor Maze returning and the deep bench of tailbacks will be fun to watch. And yes, I will pull for my UCLA Bruin team as well but they'll be lucky if they finish 3rd this year in the Pac-10.

Actually, I really wish we had done a fantasy college league, I guess I could have been a lot more into that.

That would have been fun, but I just don't see how I'd have the time to keep up with it. Between working, playing realtor, studying for the CPA exam, and getting my fill of IHB....sleep has become a very valuable commodity. haha Will your husband be watching the Trojans since Rich will be starting?

Of course he will, he's got his own college fantasy league going on. The guys are so serious that they all had to meet up at my house for the draft. That's why I wish we were doing college, those are the games I can count on seeing every weekend. He's not actually rooting against SC as much anymore, but he's still a CAL guy through and through.

I have no actual connection to any area schools, but I used to root for UCLA every year and every year they would screw it up. That 1998 loss to Miami...ouch. That really really hurt.

I root for Pac-10 teams in general so when USC started doing well again, I started rooting for them to do well. But lately it seems they've been finding a way to screw up their national title hopes with a boneheaded loss to a team they shouldn't lose to.

The rest of the Pac-10 isn't much better. OSU pissing away their BCS bid last year was ugly.

Then there's the problem with the system itself including how they rank teams and decide on who plays in the championship.

Could of big upsets today. USC isn't playing all that well, but neither is OSU which is making for a low scoring game. I'm thinking USC will EEK out a 3pt victory at the end.

BYU is kicking some major booty and they could be the BCS party crashers this year...those storming Mormons.

Will be a very somber poker night if SC loses as the majority of those at my house are die hard SC fans and alums.

We'll definitely see what the former Monarch QB is made of. I'm hoping that OSU's conservative play calling will come bite them in the arse.

[quote author="bltserv" date=1252892211]It was a win.

But it was not pretty and they didnt cover the spread again !</blockquote>
I know, they cost me $100. The offense doesn't look to be very explosive this year but the defense looks rock solid.

So ok then...

This is a sad, sad day to be a Trojan. :(

Not really. It's a really great day to be from UW (like my wife), but USC has lost this kind of game every year and it doesn't keep them out of the BCS Top 5. Now, if you lose to the Cougs next week, you might as well rest your starters for the rest of the season, because you're done.

Yes, but it is a good day to be the wife of a Cal Bear (two weeks in a row!). This doesn't happen often, as you all know.

Lets also remember that the 2008 Washington Record was 0-12.

You can put a fork in USC for this season. They are already well done.

Don't rub it in? :p

Yeah, the issue this year that I feared was going to be QB play. Hopefully Matt gets to play the majority of the year so he can get ready for next year.
