Asians love Mexican food. It has a similar taste profile to Asian food (lots of hot spice, onions, garlic, cilantro, braised meats, rice, offal, etc.). The scarcity of Mexican food in Irvine has a lot more to do with low margins and high rents.

Thanks for the responses. I had to get on a step stool to look closely at all the smoke alarms and it turns out the one in the hall was a combo unit. It looks exactly like all the other smoke alarms, except it has some white on white embossed writing on it identifying the CO detector in it too...

Sorry for this stupid question, but I don't know where the carbon monoxide detector is located in my home. Where does Irvine Pacific usually put the CO detectors and what do they look like?

If you can't find one through personal recommendation, I usually pick one based on what med school they graduated from, which narrows it down real fast. Of course that doesn't tell you how good they are but it's better than completely random chance.

I don't think you should be afraid of Irvine. Toxins are only a factor in the Great Park area and possibly Portola Springs as far as I know (please elaborate on what you heard). I used to live near Yorba Linda and, even though it was peaceful, I think Irvine is a much more vibrant and desirable...
