As you are probably aware by now, <a href="http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/forums/member/492/">PeterUk </a>was <a href="http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/forums/viewthread/5542/#114857">recently injured</a> in a cycling accident. He is expected to return home from the hospital this week and we would like to put together a meal rotation schedule to cover now through the end of July.

If you would like to participate, <strong>please send me a PM with the date you would like cover, the window of time you would like to drop off your meal, and the easiest way to reach you.</strong> I will add you to the schedule and you will receive a reminder notification the day prior. To protect the family?s privacy, at this time, we will request that you have at least 50 posts or more to participate.

If you do not live near Irvine or are short on time, one option you may want to consider is using a service such as <a href="https://www.rotr.com/Default.aspx">?Restaurants On The Run?</a>. This will allow you to make a selection from a variety of restaurants and have the food delivered to his home. If you choose to go this route, please see the <a href="https://www.rotr.com/FAQ.aspx">special instructions</a> on how to have your payment cleared by faxing in the required info to the company before you order. If you are considering lunch or weekend delivery, see special instructions on availability.

(You will notice this week is marked ?to be determined?. We are not sure yet what day Peter and his wife will return home and be ready to accept meals so we're playing it by ear as they get settled.)

We have had some questions regarding food allergies or special dietary concerns. We are trying to find out that information and when we do, it will be posted here.

UPDATE: The couple has no allergies and enjoys a variety of food with the slight exception of iced tea and coffee. Peter is on doctor's orders to put on weight so high-calorie food is okay. Thank you. (Thanks, also, to Deuce and Zovall for gathering this info for us.)

Just a suggestion about visiting...

If you are delivering a meal and plan on staying to chit-chat, you may want to get in touch with them ahead of time to check their availability and see if they will be up for it. Keep in mind that Peter is healing so please be respectful of their time, especially if you do not know them well. Thank you.

Deuce, if you talk to Peter and think they'd be up to accepting meals sometime between now and Sunday, please let me know and I will open the next few days to volunteers.

Put me down for the 22nd...6-6:30pm. Also, can you give me some ideas on what Peter likes to eat???

Thanks, trojan. Check out my post a couple above IR2's for food info.

Regarding the number of portions / size of meal to bring for Peter... word on the street is that they have an in-home nurse, so it's up to you if you want to bring two servings -- enough for Peter and his wife... or if you want to bring enough to feed three, and maybe the nurse will eat along with them. I had asked around if there was anybody else staying with them and it didn't sound like it, so I believe that is all. If anyone gets an update on the situation, please advise us by posting here. Thanks.

<span style="color: blue;">Attention Please</span>

Something has come up. Peter & wife are requesting us to stop meal deliveries at this time. We will pick up where we left off in one week, but their hours of availability may be adjusted a bit. We will let you know as soon as possible. I know a few of you have expressed interest in pre-ordering food from "Restaurants On The Run". I would advise you to hold off on doing that for now. More updates to follow. Thank you.

UPDATE:

I just got off the phone with Peter's wife....

The couple will be busy attending appointments at the doctor for the next few days. (Peter got his hard cast off one or both of his hands and they were replaced with soft casts. Yay!) We will resume meal deliveries on Friday. Graph & Cayci - I know you spoke to them and are good to go for Friday. Peter's wife gets home at about 6:30 p.m. M-Fri so they can receive meals anytime after 6:30 p.m. on those days. Weekends should be more flexible as they are home-bound. What I need to know from everyone penciled in for next week is if you are able to adjust your delivery times until after 6:30 p.m. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if that works for you or not. Thanks.

I didn't want to take up all the weekend dates for myself in case that is the only time that is convenient for some of you. I'll go ahead and put myself down and if anybody prefers a weekend then let me know and I'll accommodate you.

6:30pm-7pm is fine. How far is Peter from Quail Hill?

Peter likes curry from Sagaar! He'll take it spicy, thank you very much. But, his wife prefers mild. Can't take the heat I guess. He also enhoys Spotted Dick, from time to time. All Brits do, I understand.

Thanks, Trojan. I'm off to PM you now with his address.

No wonder he is friends with Vicstah... the whole big black and white spot obsession explains it all.

Just FYI for anyone interested in using Restaurants on the Run. Coupon code "TWITTER" knocks $10 off of your bill (not sure when it expires). Just used it today.

Paging <strong>Roundcorners</strong>:

Please get in touch with me. Your deliveries need to be rescheduled or else I will need time to find someone to cover. I sent you a PM but not sure if you got it. If you replied Thursday, it may have slipped through the cracks (long story there.)

Another word of warning about ROTR: Upon your first order, if you are having it sent to someone other than yourself, you will need to print and fax a credit card authorization form. I thought this was kind of stupid considering I can buy just about anything on the internet, but it's just the way things are. Apparently you won't have to do it every time, just the first time and only if you will not be present for the delivery.
