This could easily have resulted in serious injury or death. The sad part is that person is still allowed to legally drive until the DMV takes action.
 
I wish driving standards were higher in this country, but actually implementing it would be very very difficult because of the huge variability that will occur in assessing driving ability. Statistically, there will also be some poor outlier (e.g. one in 30 million) who gets screwed.

When I was young, I was taught that Driving is a privilege...not a right...

Let's be real and honest here.  It's not just the elderly.  I am afraid to drive in this city because there are so many horrible drivers who don't seem to have any regard for traffic signs or laws.  And it's not just racial stereotypes.  There are plenty of younger drivers who are just so disrespectful on the road.  And I thought Boston drivers were bad...
