How can a listing show that it was sold in 2012 when someone I know claims they purchased it in 2016?  It shows listed for a certain price in 2016 on sites like Redfin and Realtor.com, but then doesn't say it was sold or delisted.  Could a listing be taken offline and sold?

It sounds like maybe there's a glitch somewhere in the data feed for the home.  A listing can be sold off market after it expires and/or is cancelled but then again I've purchased a few properties directly from clients and never listed them on MLS with the prices showing up.
