$1 Million Irvine Parking Lot

I see this place all the time and don't get it.  Why are people parking here?  To leave their car in the lot and take the bus to work?

Van pools and casino buses.

I never got the vanpool community meet up thing.  I have to drive somewhere to wait and be picked up to resume my trip to my destination.  Sounds like a waste.

My old roommate did this. Park there and rode the van to downtown LA. Same hundreds in gas/car maintenance.

But the freedom he gave up is priceless my friend.

Lol, you mean gained.  They get to leave work at set reasonable time and nobody thinks they're not dedicated because they aren't working late , or doing the impromptu hackathon, or whatever other BS peopl mistake putting time in for getting shit done

Now is it really a million bucks to pave a dirt field, put in ten parking lot light and plant fifty or so shrub like trees?  They already owned the land.

And did they actually install grass?  Aren't other parts of the state government funding us to rip our grass out?

For a mil, they should be able to put up those solar panel shades like they have at the schools.

Then they could also install EV charging stations and monetize that lot.

I saw a lot of these van pool every day on my daily commute on I-5.

One thing we do realized from this is that these people work 30-50 miles outside of Irvine and willing to deal with daily  long commutes to live at Irvine.

Actually I'm one of these people and there's a lot of people doing this long commute everyday.  On my daily commute, besides seeing these van pools, I saw a lot of cars with Irvine area car dealer license plate frame on the I-5 during everyday traffic hours.

One takeaway from this is that the Irvine housing market is not just support by the Irvine and the surrounding area residents, it is open to potential buyers from all over Southern California.

I'd like to see the demographics of those people that use the vanpool.  My guess is that it's mainly 9 to 5ers; not upper management and senior level people.  People at higher levels need the ability to stay late at work, attend a business dinner, conferences, lunch meetings, etc..

Upper management represents what percentage of the company?  Seriously, the demographics match the 98% of the companies that are basically worker bees.

In my eyes, upper management represents possibly 10-20% of a company.  I'm pretty sure a good % of people that live in Irvine and work in LA aren't your standard worker bees (who don't work late hours or attend offsite business functions from time to time).
