Great Park Homeless Shelter

This is a lot closer to Cypress Village homes than GP homes.  Can't wait to see the homeless rolling their shopping carts up down Sand Canyon.

Whoa! This is nonsense. OC just wants to screw with Irvine on their property within the city.  "Let's build a huge shopping mall and hotels to compete with the Spectrum. You know what, let's build a homeless shelter."

Irvine doesn't have a homelessness issue anywhere remotely close to Santa Ana and HB.  It doesn't make logistical sense to build a shelter on the Irvine property. What would they do, bus homeless people into the city for the shelter?

I'd like to think Irvine would be the last choice between the three.

Tustin hosts OC Rescue Mission and shelters for homeless women, children, and veterans:

If you don't want to see homeless tent cities, please make a donation to organizations like OC Rescue Mission that house the homeless and help them get back on their feet.

Anaheim White House restaurant's Caterina?s Club has also expanded their service to helping at risk families living in motels:http://caterinasclub.org/welcome-home/

Job training:http://caterinasclub.org/job-training/

...and feeding the kids & keeping them off the streets:http://caterinasclub.org/feeding-the-children/http://caterinasclub.org/chef-bruno...apistrano-rancho-santa-margarita-aliso-viejo/

They are continuing their services even after the main source of income, the restaurant itself went up in flames this year:http://caterinasclub.org/famed-anaheim-white-house-resturant-erupts-flames/

If money is tight and you cannot afford to donate funds, consider volunteering for organizations like Project Angel Food.  They cook and deliver over 10,000 meals a week to the elderly and those with debilitating diseases such as cancer, end stage renal disease, and Alzheimer's:http://www.angelfood.org

can we just become our own COUNTY?  lol

OC is going crazy.  They need to back the F up.

Too bad the airport wasn't built

Irvine doesn't have a homeless problem because if you look like a vagrant, the police will pick you up and drop you off in Santa Ana.

Maybe it's meant to be (destiny). Isn't there a 99 cent store in Lake Forest?  ;)

The bigger question is do we update yellowfever's environmental hazard list for All of cypress village/Great Park by having this new homeless shelter...neighboring villages might also get points deducted as well  >:D

:(omg...i was planning to buy in Cypress Village East and this news is bumber. This crazy...i sometimes feel Eastwood is pricey for a reason - no such risks atleast.

That macys @ irvine spectrum closed a few months ago.  The homeless can live there.
You guys should take a ride down Santa Ana river trail to see your new neighbors.
The encampment is right by Anaheim stadium.

But it's not an environmental hazard.

Think of the positive things, you can possibly toss anything you don't want by your garbage and it might not be there when you get back. (don't have to drive and waste gas to donate things)  ;)

All of these headlines are political propaganda to create buzz. None of this will come to fruition. At least not in Irvine.

Agree.  It will not happen.

That particular OC supervisor probably will not be re-elected again.  Worse come to worse, 5P will donate fund for homeless shelter elsewhere and make this thing go away.

The shelter itself no,  but the trash and human waste created by the occupants of the shelter in the surrounding area will be.

I assume they will have bathrooms and trash bin at the camp. I assume they will not go to your front lawn I mean small backyard to use the restroom.  :D
