Moving to IUSD with an elementary age kid

Hello,

My child (in Montessori primary currently) will be starting first grade this fall and we plan to move to Irvine this June. Few questions we have regarding enrollment  :-\
- Our choices for school are Westpark, Stonecreek, Turtle rock, Stonegate. Is it possible that one or all of these will be waitlisted and we won't be able to get it for the upcoming school year since enrollment has already started and we'll be late?
- Other than the above does anyone have experience moving from Montessori to first grade and can recommend year round versus traditional?

Are you renting or buying?

I ask because if you are buying, you should contact the school zoned to your neighborhood and ask these enrollment questions.

As for moving from Montessori to 1st grade, kids are very resilient and will adjust... you just need to monitor your kids' work more.

I prefer traditional over year round. While year round can give you better off-season rates while vacationing, most of the break programs in Irvine run off the traditional schedule.
