we are not attending Kindergarten this year (keeping my 5 year old kid one more year in a private school), but want to go directly to the 1st grade in the fall. Anyone has done this in Irvine? There is so much hysteria about overcrowding and getting a spot. We are assigned to Alderwood Elementary. I want to do the same with my younger kid but would like to see if anyone had a negative experience getting a spot in the 1st grade.
