OC tax decrease in 2017

So I made a purchase around Christmas time and the tax was 8%.  When I went for the return today, I noticed that they gave me less money and they said that's because the taxes are now 7.75% in 2017.

I didn't know that orange county taxes decreased, which is good news. But I also didn't know that when you have the receipt the store can give you less money back on returns.  Because I have purchased items in higher tax county areas like Los Angeles, and when I return the items to lower tax county areas like orange county, I still get the full amount paid back.  The associate probably wasn't trained right to over ride the tax.

Some places in Irvine still charging 8% tax.  Isn't it county wide 7.75% ?

Rates don't change unless the business updates its software.

Always thought it was automatic.  I guess it's just store by store.

1. You can go back to the business and ask for a refund.
2. Complain to the BOE and tell them that you got over charged.
3. Post your receipt on TI. Lol
