For those love fatty food but concern about the waistline, here's good news for you.  High fat diet is the key to reduce waistline. :)

Why Experts Now Think You Should Eat More Fat
According to a new study from the National Institutes of Health, a diet that reduces carbohydrates in favor of fat ? including the saturated fat in meat and butter ? improves nearly every health measurement, from reducing our waistlines to keeping our arteries clear, more than the low-fat diets that have been recommended for generations. The medical establishment got it wrong.

The high-fat group cut carbs in half and did not avoid butter, meat, and cheese.  One year later, the high-fat, low-carb group had lost three times as much weight ? 12 pounds compared with four ? and that weight loss came from body fat, while the low-fat group lost muscle.
 
I was raised to never, ever buy low-fat substitutes because they have more junk in them to try to make them taste like the real thing. my whole family is skinny.
 
the bottom line is net calories.

if you eat less calories than you consume, you will lose weight and vice versa.

For the same amount of calories, fat makes you more satiated than carbohydrates. So fat rich food will help you take in less calories overall.

While exercise helps you consume more calories, from weight loss point of view diet is more important.
